Stage 2 of the Inquiry looked at ways to improve services and support for older people with mental health problems and their carers.  The Inquiry also looked at ways to prevent mental health problems in later life.

This phase was supported by Age Concern.

Roundtable discussions

Completed October 2006 These were organised by the Inquiry to gather evidence from professionals.  They focused on depression in primary care, depression in care homes, mental health needs in acute hospitals, and the experiences of people growing older with severe and enduring mental health problems.

This is being undertaken by the Inquiry to analyse UK wide and country specific policies that impact on older people's mental health.

10 Completed June 2007 The Inquiry Board and Advisory Group will meet to review emerging findings and to develop recommendations.
11 Planning of launch , dissemination and influencing Completed August 2007 The Inquiry is planning how it will launch its final report, disseminate it and influence target audiences.
