This report presents the findings and recommendations from Stage 1 of the Inquiry's work, which has focused on mental health promotion in later life. It draws on the views of nearly 900 older people and carers.
The report identifies five key factors that impact on the mental health and well-being of older people: Discrimination, Participation, Relationships, Physical Health and Poverty.

Action at the local and community levels will make the most difference. The Inquiry makes recommendations to local and central government, voluntary organisations, community groups, public bodies, businesses, the media and others.
Age Concern will lead an audit of responses in 2007 and report on progress in 2008. We welcome your responses to the report and its recommendations.
